FAMAS LAUNCHES BROADCAST ARTS AWARDS

The Filipino Academy of Movies, Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) is expanding its scope as it formally launches the first-ever FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards, recognizing outstanding Filipino talents from television, radio, and new media.

The announcement was made during a press conference on Wednesday led by FAMAS president Francia Conrado, artistic director Vince Tañada, and other academy officers. The new awards aim to honor excellence beyond film, highlighting the growing impact of broadcast and digital platforms.

Among the initial competitive categories are Best News Program, Best TV News Anchor, Best AM Program, Best FM Program, Best Podcast, and Best Podcast Host. The board and selection committee have already begun reviewing submitted entries, with particular focus on digital content.

Eligible programs must have been publicly aired on free TV, cable, radio, or online platforms between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025.

Entries should be submitted under their proper genres, including drama, variety, talk show, lifestyle, comedy, reality or competition, documentary, news, public affairs, magazine, and educational programs.

A total of 28 competitive awards will be given, alongside two honorary recognitions.

The inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards is scheduled for May 4, 2026, at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel.
