Kapamilya TV host-actress Kim Chiu filed a qualified theft complaint against her older sister, Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, on Tuesday, December 2.
According to ABS-CBN News, Kim personally went to the Office of the Assistant City Prosecutor in Quezon City with lawyers Xylene Dolor and Archernar Gregana to submit her sworn statement, evidence, and other documents related to the case.
The complaint reportedly stems from “financial discrepancies” in Kim’s business, in which Lakam was also involved. Under the Revised Penal Code, qualified theft involves stealing and breaching the trust of others.
Kim’s lawyer said they had made several attempts to privately communicate with Lakam’s camp to resolve the issue, but received no response, which led to the filing of the case—even if it was against Kim’s wishes.
Kim has not provided further details about the case, and Lakam has yet to issue a statement.
