The Department of Health (DOH) reported a total of 744 leptospirosis cases in Central Visayas from November 1 to December 10, following severe flooding caused by Typhoon Tino.
According to the DOH on Saturday, “Karamihan umano sa mga pasyente ang nakaranas ng lagnat, panginginig, sakit ng ulo, at pamumula ng mata matapos ma-expose sa baha.”
Out of the reported cases, 715 patients have already recovered. The agency also confirmed that there is an adequate supply of doxycycline in hospitals for immediate treatment.
The DOH continues to urge the public to seek medical attention promptly if experiencing symptoms of leptospirosis.
