LPA INTENSIFIES INTO TROPICAL DEPRESSION FABIAN

A low-pressure area over the West Philippine Sea has strengthened into Tropical Depression Fabian on Friday morning, according to PAGASA.

The weather bureau reported that Fabian was located 145 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 55 kph.

Fabian is moving northwest at 15 kph and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) later Friday.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Podul, currently 2,550 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, will be given the local name Gorio once it enters the PAR late Sunday or early Monday.

PAGASA said Podul could intensify into a typhoon and will likely move westward towards southern Taiwan by the middle of next week.
