MANILA PLACES DISASTER RESPONSE UNDER BLUE ALERT FOR HOLY WEEK

The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has elevated its status to blue alert in preparation for the observance of Holy Week.

According to the local government on Tuesday, the heightened alert took effect on March 28 as authorities prepared for the expected influx of travelers and churchgoers during the holiday period.

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso directed stricter coordination among agencies, particularly in public areas and transport terminals that are expected to experience heavy passenger traffic.

Authorities assured the public that 24-hour monitoring will be in place, with emergency responders on standby to maintain order and provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies across the city.
