President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. personally visited Bogo City, Cebu, the epicenter of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck on Tuesday night, September 30.
Photos shared by the Cebu provincial government on its official Facebook page on Thursday, October 2, showed Marcos with Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro and other local officials.


“Governor Pamela Baricuatro led Cebu officials in accompanying President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to Bogo City, where he checked on the victims of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake,” the caption read.
The President also inspected the Yolanda Housing Village in Barangay Polambato, a relocation site for survivors of Supertyphoon Yolanda in 2013, which was severely affected by the tremor.
“The President personally visited the Yolanda Housing Village in Barangay Polambato — a relocation site for survivors of Supertyphoon Yolanda — which was badly affected by the tremor. Reports indicate that eight bodies have been recovered from collapsed houses in the area,” the Cebu provincial government said.
Joining Marcos during his visit were several Cabinet officials, including Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco, Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara, and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
It can be recalled that on Wednesday, October 1, the President extended his condolences and prayers to the victims of the earthquake in a statement released by Malacañang.
