MTRCB SUMMONS VIVA OVER CONTENT CREATOR’S PROFANE REMARKS AT “DREAMBOI” PREMIERE

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has called on VIVA Communications Inc. to attend a dialogue following the circulation of a viral video showing one of its content creators making profane comments directed at the agency during the premiere of “Dreamboi,” an official entry to the CineSilip Film Festival 2025.

In a statement, the MTRCB said the remark made by the talent was disrespectful not only to the institution but also to the people working behind the board’s regulatory duties.

A letter dated October 23 and addressed to VIVA Communications President Vincent Del Rosario formally invited the company to a dialogue aimed at promoting mutual understanding and responsible conduct during public events.

“In line with our Responsableng Panonood campaign and our vision for healthy collaborative practices with our stakeholders, we would like to invite you for a dialogue on the said report,” the letter stated.

While emphasizing its respect for freedom of expression, the MTRCB noted its serious concern over the use of language that disrespects public institutions and the standards governing film classification.

The agency said the meeting, set for November 4, seeks to open constructive discussions and reinforce the importance of professionalism and accountability within the entertainment industry.

Although the MTRCB did not immediately disclose the identity of the content creator, online users have pointed to Sassa Gurl, after a video of the social media personality went viral on TikTok, where she was seen cursing at the agency during the premiere.

“T*ngna niyo MTRCB. Maldita diba? Bakit tayo irated X hindi naman ‘to porn,” said the influencer in the clip.

It can be recalled that “Dreamboi” initially received an X rating twice from the MTRCB before being granted an R-18 rating on its third review.

The board said it hopes the upcoming dialogue will serve as a reminder to industry players about maintaining respect, accountability, and professionalism when engaging with regulatory institutions.
