NWPC APPROVES WAGE HIKE FOR BICOL WORKERS, KASAMBAHAY

The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) on Monday announced new wage adjustments for workers in the Bicol Region, including a ₱45 increase in daily minimum wages and a ₱1,000 monthly salary hike for domestic workers.

In a social media post, the commission said the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB) Region 5 approved Wage Order No. V-23, granting the ₱45 daily increase in two tranches. The first ₱20 will take effect on April 8, followed by an additional ₱25 on December 1. Once fully implemented, the region’s minimum wage will rise to ₱480 from ₱435.

The wage adjustment will apply to workers in the cities of Iriga, Legazpi, Ligao, Masbate, Naga, Sorsogon, and Tabaco, as well as in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon.

Meanwhile, domestic workers (kasambahay) will receive a ₱1,000 increase in their monthly minimum wage under Wage Order No. RBV-DW-04.

Starting April 5, their pay will be set at ₱6,000 across the same cities and provinces in the region.
