PH TO JOIN FIRST-EVER EUROVISION SONG CONTEST ASIA

The Philippines is set to compete in the first-ever Eurovision Song Contest Asia, a new regional version of the globally renowned music competition launching later this year.

Organizers announced Tuesday that the contest will feature at least 10 participating countries, modeled after the long-running Eurovision Song Contest format that has captivated audiences for nearly seven decades.

Confirmed entries so far include South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, with ABS-CBN tapped to represent the country.

The Asian debut aims to highlight diverse musical traditions while staying true to Eurovision’s guiding principle of being “United by Music.”

Organizers emphasized that the event will serve as a pan-Asian stage where artists can showcase original performances and foster cultural exchange across borders.

Since its inception in 1956, the Eurovision Song Contest has grown into one of the world’s most-watched entertainment events, drawing hundreds of millions of viewers annually. Its expansion into Asia marks a significant milestone in the franchise’s global reach.

Additional participating nations are expected to be revealed in the coming months. The grand final of the inaugural edition is scheduled for November 14 in Bangkok.
