Discussions are ongoing regarding the potential broadcast of ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) on the pay TV provider Cignal TV. The move would allow subscribers of the network to access the English-speaking news channel of the Kapamilya Network.
According to industry sources, talks between ABS-CBN, led by Chairman Emeritus Gabby Lopez, and TV5, under the leadership of MediaQuest Holdings Chairman and CEO Manny V. Pangilinan, had previously included airing ANC on Cignal TV. However, the discussions stalled following the eventual separation between ABS-CBN and TV5.
Some executives within TV5 reportedly opposed the idea, citing potential negative effects on the network’s existing news channels, including One News and One PH. Talks also included the possibility of ABS-CBN returning as a content provider for TV5.
No official confirmation has yet been issued by Cignal TV or ABS-CBN regarding the channel’s availability.
The discussions come after the formal end of a previous agreement between ABS-CBN and TV5 in early 2026, which followed a temporary failure of the Kapamilya Network to meet financial obligations to TV5, an issue that was quickly resolved.
