Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon jointly inspected the site of the Ortigas Station of the ongoing Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) on July 30, an initiative aimed at significantly reducing travel time across Metro Manila.
The Ortigas Station, located along Meralco Avenue, is currently facing land acquisition and right-of-way challenges.
According to Dizon, the agency is working to resolve these issues promptly so that construction of the station can begin in the coming weeks.
“So this subway, this is a game-changer,” said Dizon, expressing confidence that the project is nearing full implementation.
He added, “There will be one station on Shaw Boulevard near Capitol Commons and two major stations in Pasig.”
Dizon thanked the Pasig City local government for its assistance in addressing right-of-way concerns and for its support of the project.
“We thank him (Mayor Vico) and the whole team, all the support he gives us,” Dizon said.
Mayor Sotto reaffirmed the city’s commitment to supporting the DOTr’s efforts.
“We in the Pasig LGU are also looking forward to the subway, so we will do our best to help. We see that everything is moving forward, and the remaining problems are being resolved,” he stated.
The DOTr estimates that once operational, the Ortigas Station will serve approximately 96,000 passengers daily.
