TV5 CLARIFIES ABS-CBN PARTNERSHIP, HOPES TO AVOID FUTURE COMPETITION

In an exclusive interview with some reliable sources within the network, key details were revealed regarding the ongoing partnership between TV5 and ABS-CBN Corporation.

Speaking during the “Ang Mutya ng Section E” watch and fan party held last July 11, the network revealed that ABS-CBN remains a “valuable and important partner”, especially as a consistent content provider for TV5’s weekday primetime programming.

“We treat them as our “important partner”, kasi iba pa rin yung contents nila talagang malakas pa rin sila hanggang ngayon,” one of our sources said.

When asked about the growing speculation that ABS-CBN may intensify its presence on Villar-owned ALLTV—potentially creating new competition for TV5—the executive expressed optimism that such rivalry would not return.

“Sana hindi, kasi mahirap pag nag-compete uli kami sa isa’t-isa talagang sigurado aangat uli yung isa (referring to GMA-7’s primetime block),” he added.

Despite the shifting broadcast landscape, TV5 remains confident that its partnership deal with ABS-CBN, which is set to expire in 2028, will be renewed.

The collaboration between the two media giants began after ABS-CBN’s broadcast shutdown in 2020 and has since been instrumental in maintaining the network’s presence on free TV through content sharing.
