Kapamilya TV host and comedian Vice Ganda expressed his heartfelt thanks to the iconic AlDub tandem of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, famously known as “Yaya Dub” from the KalyeSerye segment of Eat… Bulaga!
The host reflected on how AlDub influenced the cast of It’s Showtime, sharing experiences of contestants like “Nekie” from “Laro Laro Pick,” who even joked about past arguments with her spouse over the duo.
“Maraming salamat sa AlDub din. Ibang lakas din ang na-develop sa aming lahat ng dahil sa inyo,” Vice Ganda said on Wednesday, December 3.
“It’s a death-defying competition, muntik muntik na ngang mamatay—pero maraming salamat. ’Yong AlDub talaga ang sumubok sa tibay natin. May mga ganoong pagkakataon na ginawang instrumento ’yong AlDub para mapatunayan natin kung gaano tayo katatag. Maraming salamat sa AlDub, at to be fair, ang daming pinasaya rin ng AlDub. ’Di ba? Ang daming pinasaya, ang daming nabigyan din ng pag-asa—katulad natin ’di ba, ganoon lang din naman ang intensyon ng AlDub, magpasaya ng maraming tao.”
Vice Ganda also shared the hectic schedules during AlDub’s peak, describing sleepless nights moving from Eat… Bulaga! to It’s Showtime while preparing segments.
He credited AlDub for indirectly inspiring the revival of the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment on It’s Showtime, which was initially intended as a standalone ABS-CBN show.
The AlDub phenomenon, which rose to fame in 2015, briefly impacted It’s Showtime’s ratings but ultimately contributed to the revival and success of the classic talent competition segment, bringing renewed energy and hope to both cast and viewers.
