A more assertive Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto faced his constituents during his State of the City Address (SOCA) on Monday, October 13, delivering a firm reminder on the importance of good governance at all levels of the city.
In his address, Sotto reiterated that while his administration has already established the foundations of transparent and ethical leadership, its full impact can only be felt if barangay officials strengthen their own commitment to clean and honest governance.
“Hindi natin masyadong natutukan ang ating mga pamahalaang barangay,” Sotto admitted, acknowledging the challenges of ensuring accountability down to the grassroots level.
The mayor also issued a strong message to barangay leaders, urging them to set aside personal interests and prioritize the welfare of their constituents.
“Pero huwag na rin po tayong maglokohan. Huwag kayong magmamalaki sa’kin na malakas kayo kay COA Commissioner Lipana. Gagawin natin kung ano ang tama sa Lungsod ng Pasig,” Sotto firmly declared, drawing applause from the audience.
Sotto ended his SOCA by emphasizing that true and lasting reform in Pasig depends not only on city hall but on every official’s dedication to integrity and public service.
