EUROPE — French streaming platform Animation Digital Network has announced a strategic partnership with Chinese entertainment giant Bilibili, aiming to broaden the reach of Chinese animated content, known as donghua, across European markets.
The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the global expansion of Chinese animation, aligning both companies to deliver a wider selection of titles to Western audiences.
Monthly releases begin in April
Starting in April, ADN will introduce two Bilibili titles per month, creating a steady stream of Chinese animated series on its platform. The initial phase will feature approximately ten series, all fully localized for audiences in France, Germany, and Poland. Plans for further expansion will depend on viewer response and overall performance.
This initiative supports ADN’s commitment to diversifying its catalog and expanding access to Asian animation beyond traditional Japanese anime.
Expanding donghua’s global presence
Bilibili, a leading platform for animation, gaming, and youth culture in China, has invested heavily in original animated productions. Through this partnership, its content will gain increased visibility in Europe, where interest in Asian animation continues to grow.
Both ADN and Bilibili share a vision of advancing the global evolution of animation, leveraging ADN’s established European footprint and Bilibili’s growing library of original works to introduce more viewers to Chinese animation and storytelling.
Co production prospects and industry impact
The partnership also includes discussions on potential co production projects, which could further connect the European and Chinese animation industries. Such initiatives reflect a broader trend of international collaboration in the animation sector, as platforms seek to scale content for global audiences.
Strengthening the European animation market
For ADN, the deal strengthens its position as a leading animation streaming service in Europe. For Bilibili, it represents an important step in expanding its international presence and competitiveness in the global streaming landscape.
As Chinese animation continues to gain momentum worldwide, the partnership signals growing confidence in its ability to resonate with international audiences while reinforcing cultural and creative ties between Europe and China.
