ROOSTER FIGHTER ANIME SET FOR MARCH–APRIL 2026

Fans of action-comedy anime can look forward to a bold new addition to the Spring 2026 lineup, as the hit manga Rooster Fighter is officially set to receive an anime adaptation. Based on the popular series by Shū Sakuratani, the anime will premiere in North America on March 15, 2026, followed by its Japanese broadcast in April, bringing its unconventional rooster hero to audiences worldwide.

Originally serialized on the Comiplex manga platform in December 2020, Rooster Fighter has built a strong fanbase for its mix of over-the-top action, outrageous humor, and unapologetically absurd storytelling. The series centers on Keiji, a battle-hardened rooster who defends humanity from colossal demon-like threats, earning praise for its combination of relentless intensity and unexpected heart.

Release schedule and distribution

According to official announcements, Rooster Fighter will debut in the United States on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block on March 15, 2026, as part of its Spring season lineup. The Japanese television premiere will follow in April, airing on networks including Tokyo MX and BS NTV. The first season is slated to run for 12 weekly episodes.

Production and creative team

Animation production is being handled by Studio Sanzigen, known for its distinctive visual style and dynamic action sequences. Daisuke Suzuki serves as director, with veteran screenwriter Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen, Mob Psycho 100) overseeing series composition. Joseph Chou of Sola Entertainment is attached as producer.

The anime is a joint project between VIZ Media and Hero’s Inc., with VIZ overseeing distribution outside Japan. An English-dubbed version has also been confirmed for the Adult Swim broadcast, featuring Patrick Seitz as the voice of Keiji, expanding the show’s accessibility for international audiences.

Absurd premise, cult appeal

At its core, Rooster Fighter follows Keiji’s mission to eliminate monstrous demons threatening humanity. The series blends explosive combat, slapstick comedy, and moments of sincerity, a combination that has earned it cult status among manga readers. Its willingness to fully embrace its absurd premise while delivering genuine stakes has set it apart within the action-comedy genre.

International rollout

Beyond its Adult Swim and Japanese television broadcasts, Rooster Fighter is expected to reach wider audiences through additional streaming platforms and regional licensors. In Southeast Asia, Medialink is set to distribute the series via Ani-One Asia’s official YouTube channel, further extending its global reach.

With its Spring 2026 debut, Rooster Fighter is shaping up to be one of the season’s most unconventional anime releases, offering viewers a high-energy, irreverent experience that stands out in an increasingly crowded lineup.
