ABS-CBN AND TV5 PARTNERSHIP RUMORS SPARK QUESTIONS

Are there issues brewing between ABS-CBN Corporation and TV5?

This question has surfaced following a seemingly “blind item” article published by news website Bilyonaryo, which appeared to point fingers at the partnership between the two media giants.

According to the article, ABS-CBN and TV5 are allegedly facing a “financial” dispute, with executives from the Kapatid Network reportedly sending a “termination letter” to ABS-CBN’s management.

However, several reliable sources clarified that while it is true there have been some strains in the ABS-CBN and TV5 partnership, it does not involve any “financial” issues, as ABS-CBN reportedly has no debts owed to the Kapatid Network.

The sources further explained that ABS-CBN’s agreements with TV5 regarding revenue from commercial advertisements differ from their partnerships with A2Z—the free TV channel owned by ZOE Broadcasting Network of CIBAC Partylist Representative and Jesus Is Lord Church founder Eddie Villanueva—and ALLTV, the free TV channel of Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS) owned by former Senate President and business tycoon Manny Villar.

The ABS-CBN–TV5 partnership began in 2021, when Kapamilya programs “ASAP Natin ‘To!” and “FPJ Da King” aired on the Kapatid Network. In 2023, ABS-CBN Studios also entered into a 5-year agreement with TV5 for the airing of select Kapamilya entertainment programs, expected to run until 2028.

As of now, neither ABS-CBN nor TV5 has released a statement regarding the reports.
