Speculation is growing over whether the reported separation between ABS-CBN Studios and TV5 will fully push through, following concerns from viewers about where key Kapamilya programs will eventually air—particularly the Primetime Bida block and the long-running Sunday noontime show “ASAP.”
According to sources, the Kapatid Network is reportedly considering retaining two to three Kapamilya shows on TV5, namely “ASAP,” “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” and one weekday primetime teleserye from the Primetime Bida lineup. In exchange, TV5 is said to be reclaiming its third and fourth primetime slots, as well as one weekend slot.
These time slots are currently occupied by “What Lies Beneath,” “Go Ahead,” and “Your Face Sounds Familiar.”
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN is reportedly continuing discussions with GMA Network to bring more Kapamilya programs to GTV, the Kapuso Network’s sister channel. Sources also indicate that ABS-CBN and TV5 executives may still sit down for another meeting regarding their “content partnership.”
It can be recalled that both ABS-CBN and TV5 confirmed that the Kapatid Network had issued a “termination letter” to ABS-CBN over an alleged unpaid obligation amounting to ₱941 million.
ABS-CBN clarified, however, that while it acknowledges its obligation to TV5, the cited amount is inaccurate and that no final payable figure has been determined.
As discussions continue behind the scenes, the fate of several major Kapamilya programs—and the future of the ABS-CBN–TV5 collaboration—remains uncertain.
