After years of delay, the long-planned “analog TV shutdown” in the Philippines is finally moving forward.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has issued a new memorandum circular ordering the shutdown of analog TV transmission in Mega Manila and the full transition to digital TV.

Mega Manila covers Metro Manila and nearby provinces, including Bulacan, Pampanga, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bataan.
According to Memorandum Circular No. 005-11-2025, the analog shutdown process will begin within one year—until 2026—when all TV networks are expected to be fully shifting to digital transmission.

The NTC also directed the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) to release public advisories for Mega Manila residents regarding the planned analog shutdown and ensure these are aired on TV networks, especially those under the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).

Major networks still operating analog signals in Mega Manila include GMA Network and GTV, TV5 and its sister channels RPTV (in partnership with RPN) and One Sports, as well as A2Z and ALLTV—both partnered with ABS-CBN Corporation.
The agency expects analog TV to be fully switched off in Mega Manila by next year, with a nationwide shutdown targeted for 2027.
