TV host-comedian and producer Willie Revillame addressed questions regarding his short-lived stint with free TV network ALLTV during the press conference for his upcoming game show Wilyonaryo.
Revillame clarified that his move from GMA Network to ALLTV was an act of gratitude to businessman and former lawmaker Manny Villar, who owns the station.
“’Yung time na yun, dahil nagkaroon ako ng Wil Tower, nagkaroon ako ng pangalan ng isang tower parang eto yung pagbibigay ko ng pasasalamat sa kanya (referring to Villar),” Revillame said.
He also defended the low ratings recorded not only by his program Wowowin but also by other ALLTV original shows such as M.O.M.s, Kuha Mo!, and Toni.
Revillame attributed the decline to technical limitations rather than the content itself.
“Medyo hindi naging maganda yung takbo ng ratings kasi nga walang transmitter, hindi dahil yun sa programa, during that time yung ALLTV (yung frequency dating) ABS-CBN yan, so nawala yung mga transmitters,” he explained.
Currently, ALLTV has entered into a licensing agreement with ABS-CBN Corporation to air the Kapamilya Channel on its free TV platform.
This move brings ABS-CBN Studios’ top-rating programs such as FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, It’s Showtime, Roja, TV Patrol, MMK, ASAP, Rainbow Rumble, Your Face Sounds Familiar, and What Lies Beneath to ALLTV viewers.
Revillame, meanwhile, is preparing for the launch of Wilyonaryo, which will air on WilTV Channel 10 via Cignal cable and online at wilyonaryo.com.
