
Five stars affiliated with TV5 were among the major winners at the 53rd Box Office Entertainment Awards, celebrating the biggest names in Philippine entertainment.
Veteran comedian and E.A.T… Bulaga! host Vic Sotto was named Film Actor of the Year for his role as Lakan Makisig Nandula in the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) box office hit The Kingdom.
His co-star Piolo Pascual also received the same award, marking a rare dual recognition in the category.
Nadine Lustre took home the Movie Supporting Actress of the Year award for her daring performance in another MMFF 2024 entry, Uninvited.
Fast-rising actor Andres Muhlach, best known as one half of the breakout love team AshDres, was awarded Most Promising Male Star of the Year for his roles in Da Pers Family and Ang Mutya ng Section E.
His sister Atasha Muhlach claimed the Most Promising Female Star of the Year award, while former Quezon City Councilor Roderick Paulate was honored as Comedy Actor of the Year for his sitcom performance.
Several Kapamilya programs that aired on TV5 also received recognition, including FPJ’s Batang Quiapo for Popular TV Program (Primetime), ASAP for Musical/Variety Show of the Year, and Lavender Fields for Best Ensemble Cast.
Meanwhile, Can’t Buy Me Love stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano were named Prince and Princess of Philippine Entertainment, respectively.
Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings were recognized as Most Promising Love Team of the Year.
Other winners include John Estrada, who won TV Supporting Actor of the Year for FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, and ASAP host Martin Nievera as Male Concert Performer of the Year. The nation’s girl group BINI won Concert of the Year.
Lastly, Pilipinas Got Talent judge and actress Kathryn Bernardo was hailed as Phenomenal Box Office Queen of Philippine Cinema for the record-breaking success of Hello, Love, Again.
The 53rd Box Office Entertainment Awards is set to air this July 13, Sunday, 10:30PM on Kapamilya Channel and on iWant TFC.
