Veteran journalist Julius Babao is now on “leave” from his programs on TV5, according to information obtained from trusted sources.
This follows the controversy that erupted after Babao interviewed Sarah and Curlee Discaya, the couple now under fire for allegedly anomalous flood control projects.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto earlier alleged that the Discayas may have paid some interviewers before the 2025 midterm elections — a claim Babao has denied.
As of August 25, sharp-eyed viewers of the Kapatid Network noticed Babao’s absence from Frontline Pilipinas, TV5’s primetime newscast, as well as from Julius at Tintin Para sa Pamilyang Pilipino, following the issue’s fallout.
Sources said Babao is currently on “leave” while TV5’s management and news department investigate the controversy and determine measures to prevent a repeat of such incidents.
