
TV5 continues to make waves in the Philippine television industry, garnering multiple nominations at the prestigious PMPC Star Awards for Television, recognizing excellence in programming aired throughout 2023.
Entertainment icons Vic Sotto and Paolo Ballesteros of E.A.T. Bulaga! are nominated for Best Male TV Host, while their co-host Maine Mendoza is in the running for Best Female TV Host.
VIVA-produced series also received major nods, with The Rain in España and For The Love nominated for Best Mini Series and Best Drama Anthology, respectively.
Comedy duo Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola earned nominations for Best Comedy Actor for their performances in the Kapatid gag show Wow Mali Doble Tawa. Meanwhile, TV5’s game shows Spingo and Emojination both made it to the shortlist for Best Game Show.
The hosts of these programs were also recognized, with John Arcilla and Sam Coloso (Spingo), as well as Maja Salvador and Awra Briguela (Emojination), nominated for Best Game Show Hosts.
TV5’s flagship newscast Frontline Pilipinas is among the nominees for Best News Program, with anchors Cheryl Cosim and Julius Babao nominated for Best Female Newscaster and Best Male Newscaster, respectively.
The network’s fresh talents were also acknowledged. For The Love star and G.A.T. member Ethan David is nominated for Best New Male TV Personality, while Atasha Muhlach (E.A.T. Bulaga!) and Ashtine Olviga (For The Love) are both in contention for Best New Female TV Personality.
TV5’s documentary program Gus Abelgas Forensics and its host Gus Abelgas were also recognized with nominations for Best Documentary Program and Best Documentary Program Host, respectively.
Morning show Gud Morning Kapatid is nominated for Best Morning Show, with its hosts included in the Best Morning Show Hosts category.
Finally, TV5 has been nominated for the highly coveted title of Best TV Station of 2023.
The awards night is scheduled for August 24.
