VIBE LAUNCHES TULONG MGA KAPATID, STARTS AWIT AWARDS COUNTDOWN

Last Sunday’s episode of VIBE was truly one for the books — kicking off the road to the 38th Awit Awards and launching the Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. (AKFI) Tulong Mga Kapatid Bayanihan Drive, an initiative to aid those affected by Typhoons Tino and Uwan.

Opening the show with high energy, Elmo Magalona and Harvard Syndrome performed Superproxy 2K6, setting the tone for a night of iconic OPM hits.

The VIBE Jocks followed with a tribute to past Awit Award winners: Dylan Menor with Narda, Elijah Canlas and Ana Ramsey with Walang Natira, Paulo Angeles and Ryle Santiago with Don’t Touch My Birdie, Maxie Andreison with Sinaktan Mo Ang Puso Ko, and Elmo once again closing the set with Mga Kababayan.

“It’s truly a blessing to help keep the music alive and represent our family,” Elmo shared.

Beyond the music, the evening carried a deeper purpose. VIBE stood in solidarity with those affected by recent typhoons through the Tulong Mga Kapatid Bayanihan Drive, officially launched by Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. Viewers were encouraged to send cash or in-kind donations through AKFI’s bank accounts or at TV5’s Novaliches and Reliance offices.

AKFI Executive Director Menchie Silvestre shared, “We’re grateful to the MVP Group and CSR teams. Tonight’s music is a way to bring hope to our fellow Filipinos — many of whom are still struggling to sleep safely. Let’s use music to uplift their spirits.”

Face to Face Harapan host Korina Sanchez-Roxas added, “We’ve survived the worst catastrophes imaginable — and I know we’ll overcome this one too.”

MVP Group and TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan also expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for launching this telethon and for raising funds to help victims, especially in Visayas and now Northern and Central Luzon. Thank you to all involved.”

The night continued with the show’s signature VIBE segments:

  • OG: The legendary Imelda Papin performed Isang Linggong Pag-ibig and Bakit (Kung Liligaya Ka Sa Piling Ng Iba), joined by Ana and Maxie. Despite feeling under the weather, she expressed joy at being part of the event.
  • UPRISING: Rising artist Marimar made her debut with May Forever Ba?, sharing her gratitude for performing on the VIBE stage.
  • MAIN VIBE: P-pop group BGYO hyped up the stage with All These Ladies, re-entering the leaderboard. “It’s a reminder that everyone deserves to be loved and celebrated,” Akira shared. OPM band SUGARCANE followed with Please, thanking their fans for constant support and dedicating the song to “those who know the feeling of begging for love.”
  • OG FINALE: Viral Bisaya hitmaker Kantin Dudg made his first national TV debut with Gikumot Kumot. “We’re so happy to represent Visayan music. Dialects are never a barrier — as long as you enjoy the music, you can share it with everyone,” he said.

The episode also revealed the Spotify Tatak Pinoy LIVE winner — Over October, who will perform Dahan live on November 23 and 30 on VIBE.
