SINGSON READY TO NAME OFFICIALS IN FLOOD CONTROL PROBE

Former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson has expressed readiness to disclose the identities of individuals allegedly involved in irregularities surrounding government flood control projects, once he formally appears before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

In a brief statement, Singson confirmed his intent to point out those responsible, saying,

“Of course, ‘yung mga responsible ‘yan.”

However, when asked whether lawmakers, local officials, or other public figures could be implicated, he declined to provide specifics, noting that he does not want to “preempt” the ongoing Senate inquiry.

The investigation, which centers on alleged anomalies in multibillion-peso flood control initiatives, has been temporarily postponed.

According to Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson, who chairs the committee, proceedings cannot continue until Singson submits a sworn affidavit along with supporting evidence required for testimony.

Lacson also explained that the committee’s partial report must first secure at least nine signatures from senators before moving forward.

As of now, only four senators—Bam Aquino, Risa Hontiveros, Kiko Pangilinan, and Lacson himself—have signed the document, leaving five more signatures needed.

The Senate has yet to announce a new schedule for the hearing.
