Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga took to social media on Tuesday, April 14, appearing to lash out at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. following his arrest over cyber libel charges.
Barzaga surrendered to authorities on Monday night, April 13, after a Makati court issued a warrant against him on eight counts of cyber libel.
The case stemmed from a complaint filed by business tycoon Enrique Razon. The warrant was issued by Branch 147 of the Makati Regional Trial Court, with bail set at ₱48,000 per count.
In a strongly worded post, Barzaga declared:
“Pinakulong ako ni Marcos, pero lumalaban pa rin ako!”
He further accused the President of corruption and mismanagement.
“Ang dami na niyang ninakaw galing sa flood control, masyado na niyang pinataas ang presyo ng gasolina, kailangan na natin siyang tanggalin bilang presidente!”
As of Tuesday, neither President Marcos nor Malacañang had issued a statement in response to Barzaga’s remarks.
The complaints were filed after Barzaga allegedly implicated Razon in a social media post claiming the businessman had paid certain lawmakers to support then-House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Although Barzaga later apologized, the case proceeded.
