TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 BRINGS 30TH ANNIVERSARY BRIEFING TO MANILA

MANILA, Philippines — The Tokyo Game Show 2026 marked a key step in its global expansion efforts after staging a successful international press briefing at City Grand Garden Hotel on April 10, 2026, encouraging Southeast Asian developers to take part in its landmark 30th anniversary edition.

The annual gaming convention is set to run from September 17 to 21, 2026 at Makuhari Messe, one of Japan’s largest exhibition venues.

Global Collaboration and Industry Push

The Manila briefing was organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association and co-organized by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. and Sony Music Solutions Inc..

It brought together game developers, publishers, and industry stakeholders, highlighting opportunities for participation in what is expected to be one of the biggest editions of the long-running event.

Expanded Five Day Anniversary Event

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, TGS 2026 will feature an extended five day schedule:

• Business Days: September 17 to 18
• Public Days: September 19 to 21

The event will occupy multiple facilities within Makuhari Messe, including International Exhibition Halls 1 to 11, the International Conference Hall, and TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall, allowing for expanded programming and audience engagement.

Indie Developers Take Center Stage

A major highlight is the “Selected Indie 80” initiative, which will provide 80 indie developers worldwide with free exhibition space, hardware support, and on site interpretation services.

From this group, eight standout creators will be selected for Sense of Wonder Night, a global platform recognizing innovative and experimental game concepts.

AI Pavilion and Business Opportunities

New for 2026 is the AI Technology Pavilion, which will showcase emerging tools such as AI assisted game development and virtual companion systems.

During Business Days, enhanced matchmaking platforms—both onsite and online—will connect developers, publishers, and investors, strengthening international collaboration within the gaming industry.

Influencer Program Expands Global Reach

TGS is also opening applications for its “Official Influencer From Overseas” program, inviting global content creators to cover the event. Selected participants will receive exclusive access and accommodations in Japan, helping amplify the event’s international visibility.

As Tokyo Game Show celebrates three decades of gaming innovation, its expanded format and increased focus on indie developers, new technologies, and global partnerships reinforce its position as one of the industry’s premier international events.
