TV5 BOLSTERS WEEKEND LINEUP WITH PREMIERES OF ‘PROJECT LOKI’ AND ‘KUMUSTA’

TV5 is positioning itself for a major ratings surge this May, unveiling a revamped weekend primetime block designed to captivate a wide range of viewers.

The network’s latest strategy involves a dual-threat premiere: a high-stakes campus mystery and a cross-cultural culinary reality venture, both born from high-profile creative partnerships.

High-Stakes Intrigue in ‘Project Loki’

Leading the charge on May 23 is the television adaptation of the digital sensation Project Loki. A collaborative effort between MQuest Ventures and Studio VIVA, the mystery-thriller series is helmed by director Xian Lim.

The show features a dynamic young cast, including Dylan Menor, Jayda Avanzado, Marco Gallo, Yumi Garcia, and Martin Venegas, scheduled to air every Saturday and Sunday.

The plot centers on Lorelei Rios, a new student who is thrust into a world of shadows and secrets. As the network describes:

At the center of the story is Lorelei Rios, a transferee student who quickly finds herself entangled in unsettling events inside her new school. She later joins a secretive organization known as the QED Club, a group of students who investigate strange occurrences, cryptic clues, and suspicious incidents happening around campus.

Her journey is complicated by her partnership with the enigmatic Loki Mendez:

She is paired with Loki Mendez, a highly intelligent but emotionally distant student with a mysterious past. Despite their contrasting personalities, the two are forced to work together as they encounter a series of escalating mysteries—from strange campus disturbances and missing students to brutal crimes that shake the university community.

A Filipino-Korean Cultural Exchange

Diversifying the lineup is Kumusta, a groundbreaking collaboration between TV5 and streaming giant Viu. This Filipino–Korean culinary travel reality series serves as a bridge between the two nations, utilizing food to explore shared heritage and new experiences.

The production features an elite roster of talent, headlined by South Korean superstar Ji Chang-wook. Joining him are Filipino luminaries Jodi Sta. Maria, Janella Salvador, Francine Diaz, Arci Muñoz, and celebrated chef JP Anglo. Per the show’s official description:

The cast—led by South Korean actor Ji Chang-wook alongside Filipino celebrities such as Jodi Sta. Maria, Janella Salvador, Francine Diaz, Arci Muñoz, and chef JP Anglo, it is a Filipino–Korean culinary travel reality series that follows a group of Filipino celebrities and a Korean star as they come together in Seoul, South Korea to run a real pop-up Filipino restaurant.

By launching these ambitious projects back-to-back, TV5 reinforces its commitment to delivering high-caliber, diverse content that resonates with both local audiences and the international market.
