KAGURABACHI GETS ANIME ADAPTATION FOR 2027

The breakout manga Kagurabachi by Takeru Hokazono is officially getting a television anime adaptation, with broadcast scheduled to begin in April 2027.

The announcement comes as the series surpasses 4 million copies in circulation worldwide, cementing its status as one of the standout titles from Weekly Shonen Jump. Distribution across Asia will be handled by Muse Communication.


Manga’s Success Fuels Anime Launch

Since its debut, Kagurabachi has gained strong traction both in Japan and internationally, driven by its revenge centered narrative and intense sword combat. The series’ latest milestone includes more than 4 million copies sold across physical and digital formats, alongside the release of its latest collected volume in Japan.

Industry observers point to its rapid rise as a key factor behind the decision to greenlight an anime adaptation.


First Look: Visuals and Trailer Tease Action Packed World

A teaser visual and trailer were unveiled alongside the announcement, offering fans an early look at the anime’s dark tone and stylized action.

The visual highlights protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira wielding the enchanted blade Enten, accompanied by symbolic goldfish imagery. The trailer transitions from a sword forging sequence into Chihiro’s journey for revenge, showcasing a world that blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern elements.


All Star Staff and Voice Cast

The anime will be produced by Cypic, with direction by Tetsuya Takeuchi, known for work on Sword Art Online II and Heavenly Delusion.

Character design will be handled by Keigo Sasaki, whose credits include Blue Exorcist and The Seven Deadly Sins.

Rising voice actor Taihi Kimura, recently recognized at the Seiyu Awards, will portray Chihiro Rokuhira.


Production Team Shares Enthusiasm

Hokazono expressed confidence in the adaptation, noting the production team’s respect for the source material. Director Takeuchi emphasized his goal of faithfully translating the manga’s dramatic sword battles into animation, while Sasaki highlighted the challenge of adapting the manga’s distinct visual style.

Kimura, meanwhile, shared his commitment to capturing the emotional depth and determination of Chihiro’s character.


World Tour and Fan Campaigns Announced

To celebrate the announcement, a Kagurabachi World Tour has been revealed, featuring special 20 minute previews of Episode 1 at anime events worldwide, leading up to the full premiere in Japan.

A social media campaign is also underway, encouraging fans to participate for a chance to win exclusive teaser visual posters.

Kagurabachi follows Chihiro Rokuhira, son of master swordsmith Kunishige. After a group of sorcerers steals six powerful enchanted swords and destroys his family, Chihiro wields the seventh blade, Enten, and embarks on a quest for vengeance in a world where legendary weapons can shape the fate of nations.
