Controversial TV host and producer Willie Revillame is reportedly seeking a comeback to the Kapuso Network following the confirmed conclusion of his variety show, “Wilyonaryo,” on May 15.
The veteran presenter is allegedly targeting a slot on GMA Network’s sister channel, GTV. Sources indicate that Revillame is specifically interested in the primetime block currently occupied by the high-rating movie segment, “G! Flicks.”
As of press time, however, no formal agreement has been reached between the TV host and the GMA management.
A Turbulent Broadcast Journey
Revillame’s potential return follows a series of network shifts over the past few years:
- GMA-7 (2015–2022): His long-running program “Wowowin” enjoyed a stable seven-year stint on the network.
- ALLTV (2022): Revillame departed GMA to support the launch of Manny Villar’s Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS). The venture struggled with low viewership and a lack of advertisers, leading to an early exit.
- TV5 (2024): He made a brief return to the Kapatid Network but left within a year to pursue a Senate seat in the 2025 midterm elections, where he was ultimately unsuccessful.
- WilTV (2026): His most recent show, “Wilyonaryo,” premiered in January on the Cignal cable channel. The program was limited to pay TV due to broadcasting regulations on free-to-air channels regarding gambling-style formats.
The Gambling Constraint
The shift to cable was a strategic necessity for the host, as mainstream media channels—including TV5—reportedly maintained strict policies against the “gambling style” mechanics inherent in Revillame’s recent productions.
If negotiations with GMA proceed, it remains to be seen how the host will adapt his signature format to meet the standards of free-to-air television on GTV.
