The competition on Philippine prime-time television is set to intensify as GMA Network announced it will expand the broadcast of two major drama series by simulcasting them across its various sister channels.
Beginning Monday, June 29, the Dingdong Dantes-led action-drama series The Master Cutter will air in its 8:00 PM slot on GMA-7 while simultaneously broadcasting on GTV, I Heart Movies, and Heart of Asia. Meanwhile, the action series Taskforce: Firewall will be accessible at 8:45 PM on GMA-7, I Heart Movies, and Heart of Asia, with a delayed telecast on GTV at 10:30 PM.
To accommodate these adjustments, GTV’s movie block, G! Flicks, will shift to a new timeslot at 8:45 PM.
This strategic programming move by the Kapuso Network appears to be a direct countermeasure to ABS-CBN Studios’ multi-platform distribution strategy. ABS-CBN currently broadcasts its action-comedy series Coco Martin’s Sigabo and its upcoming romantic-comedy Someone Someday across four television platforms: free-to-air channels ALLTV, A2Z, and TV5, alongside the cable-based Kapamilya Channel. These Kapamilya programs also maintain a heavy digital presence through online livestreams via Kapamilya Online Live and TV5’s Kapatid Livestream.
