Putting an end to months of intense speculation, Philippine box-office royalty Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto have officially announced their first-ever cinematic collaboration.
The blockbuster tandem unveiled their upcoming project, titled The Greatest Showdown, during a star-studded mall event in Cubao, Quezon City, on Sunday, July 5.
The highly anticipated comedy feature will be helmed by acclaimed director Jun Robles Lana, who teased that the film will deliver deep emotional resonance alongside its heavy dose of humor.
“Yes, dahil yung kwentong ‘to ay kwento sya ng bawat Pilipino. ‘Yung mga taong pinaglalaban ang pamilya, gagawin mo lahat, sasanggain mo lahat ng bumabangga sa pamilya mo to the point na nakakaaway mo yung kapwa mo only to realize later na hindi naman pala dapat kayo ang magka-away,” Lana said in an interview with Mega Kapamilya.
The production is currently aiming to secure a spot as an official entry in the 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this coming December.
The collaboration marks a historic milestone for the local entertainment industry.
For years, Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto have been friendly rivals on television as the respective anchors of competing noontime variety shows It’s Showtime and EAT… Bulaga!
Furthermore, both actors have historically dominated the MMFF box office with competing franchises.
Vice Ganda’s festival track record includes massive hits like Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy and The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin, as well as his recent critically acclaimed roles in And The Breadwinner Is… and Call Me Mother—the latter earning him his very first MMFF Best Actor trophy last year.
On the other hand, Vic Sotto has long been an MMFF staple with his iconic Enteng Kabisote series, My Little Bossings, and the 2024 alternative historical-drama hit The Kingdom, which took home multiple accolades including 2nd Best Picture.
The Greatest Showdown is being co-produced by an alliance of major studios, including ABS-CBN Film Productions (Star Cinema), The IdeaFirst Company, M-Zet Productions, and APT Entertainment.
