NADINE LUSTRE WINS LEGAL BATTLE AGAINST CYBER HARASSER

Celebrated actress and singer Nadine Lustre has achieved a major legal triumph in her crusade against digital abuse after a court convicted an individual who targeted her with sexually abusive comments on Instagram.

Lustre initiated the legal action in 2025 under Republic Act No. 11313, otherwise known as the Safe Spaces Act or the “Bawal Bastos Law,” following a barrage of sexually harassing remarks from a social media user.

While the multimedia star initially weighed the option of brushing off the trolling, she ultimately chose to pursue the case to tackle the systemic issue of online harassment.

“I felt responsible to do something about it,” she explained during a press conference. “There has to be accountability.”

Collaborating with her legal team, Lustre managed to unmask the identity of the person operating the anonymous profile. Following the trial, the court handed down a sentence requiring the offender to undergo mandatory gender sensitivity training and deliver a formal apology to the actress.

Lustre stressed that her legal victory carries a message that reaches far beyond her personal ordeal, serving as a stark reminder that internet anonymity cannot shield perpetrators from legal repercussions.

This landmark resolution reinforces Lustre’s prominent role as a social advocate. Alongside her successful entertainment career, she has consistently utilized her platform to champion vital causes, such as mental health awareness, environmental conservation, women’s empowerment, and digital accountability.
