President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has greenlit the expansion of two active special economic zones in Cavite and Batangas, alongside the establishment of a brand-new information technology park in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
The developments were made official through three distinct presidential proclamations recently released in the government’s Official Gazette.
According to Proclamation No. 1337, the existing Suntrust Ecotown Tanza Special Economic Zone in Cavite will absorb an additional 331,348 square meters of land across Barangays Punta I and Sahud-Ulan.
Similarly, Proclamation No. 1338 authorizes the Light Industry and Science Park IV Special Economic Zone in Malvar, Batangas, to expand by over 308,000 square meters, integrating properties in Barangays Luta Sur and San Fernando.
In Negros Oriental, Proclamation No. 1340 officially designates a 60,000-square-meter area inside the Dumaguete Business Park in Barangay Calindagan as the new Robinsons Dumaguete IT Park.
The trio of directives were signed on July 6 by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on behalf of the President and were made public in the Gazette the following week.
