The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released its initial list of approved online campaign accounts for candidates and a political party competing in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections scheduled for September 14.
According to an official social media update from the poll body, the approved platforms as of July 22 include official accounts on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram for one Regional Parliamentary Political Party (RPPP), two aspirants for Parliamentary Sectoral Representative seats, and 15 candidates running for Parliamentary District Representative.
The Progresibong Bangsamoro Party (Pro Bangsamoro) stands as the sole political party included in this first batch of approvals.
In the Parliamentary Sectoral Representative contest, COMELEC cleared the online campaign platforms of Mary Ann Arnado, representing the Settler Communities sector, and Aida Silongan, representing the Women’s sector.
Meanwhile, 15 aspirants running for Parliamentary District Representative received approval for their digital campaign accounts:
- Basilan: Abdulsamie Jamalun Kallhal (2nd District) and Abrar Jainuddin Hataman (3rd District)
- City of Cotabato (1st District): Romeo Kabuntalan Sema and Sheriff Manimbayan Abas
- Lanao del Sur: Abdulrahman Mardan Taher (1st District), Alexander Guro Alonto Jr. (2nd District), Amenodin Usodan Sumagayan (4th District), Lampa Indar Pandi (4th District), Aroma Sayambar Asum (5th District), Khaled Yassin Dimaporo Papandayan (5th District), Jamael Papandayan Bait (6th District), Nora Lucman Dipatuan (7th District), and Ahmad Amir Alonto Balindong (8th District)
- Maguindanao del Sur: Rafsanjani Pendatun Ali (5th District)
- Special Geographic Area: Kadil Monera Sinolinding Jr. (2nd District)
To promote transparency and accountability in digital campaigning, COMELEC mandates that all candidates and political parties officially register their social media accounts.
In the upcoming September 14 polls, a total of 2,393,530 registered voters across the region will cast their ballots for one Regional Parliamentary Political Party and one Parliamentary District Representative in their respective districts.
Voters will also choose six nominees from Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations (PSOs), which comprise two seats for Settler Communities and one seat each for the Women, Youth, Traditional Leaders, and Ulama sectors.
