The NLEX Road Warriors extended their flawless run in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup, overpowering the San Miguel Beermen, 110-96, on Sunday, July 26, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to remain unbeaten.
NLEX took charge in the second period, blowing the game open with a dominant 20-2 run. Despite multiple fightbacks from San Miguel, the Road Warriors held firm to preserve their perfect 4-0 record and take sole possession of the top spot in Group A.
Schonny Winston got the offense going early, dropping 20 of his 24 total points in the first half. Import Dequan Jones posted a double-double to lead NLEX with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Robert Bolick flirted with a triple-double, tallying 14 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds. Anthony Semerad sank five long-distance shots for 15 points, while Robbie Herndon chipped in 13 points, including three triples.
NLEX stretched its lead to a high of 25 points before San Miguel made a late push. Don Trollano scored 11 of his 16 points in the final frame, cutting the gap to 92-84. Bolick then doused the comeback attempt, hitting a timely four-point shot to rebuild a double-digit cushion and secure the win.
George King paced San Miguel with 31 points, while June Mar Fajardo added 15 points and six rebounds before limping off with an apparent injury. CJ Perez also exited early for the Beermen after suffering a groin injury in the first half.
With the victory, NLEX improved to 4-0, while San Miguel dropped to 3-1 after taking its first loss of the tournament.
