Global gaming giant Garena and Japanese entertainment titan KADOKAWA have officially unveiled the title and timeline for their major joint anime project: Free Fire Daybreak.
Slated for a global broadcast and streaming release in Spring 2027, the sci-fi battle-action series marks a massive multimedia leap for one of the world’s most popular mobile games.
A Sci-Fi Conspiracy Unfolds in New Dawn
Departing from standard battle royale tournament setups, Free Fire Daybreak introduces an original narrative set in the near-future metropolis of New Dawn.
The story follows 16-year-old protagonist Kelly, who awakens with no memories of her past before getting caught up in “Project Bloom” a shadowy experiment run by the powerful Horizon Corporation. The ordeal grants her “Limit Break,” an extraordinary power capable of unlocking sealed forces. Alongside core allies Hayato and Moco, Kelly embarks on a mission to unravel Horizon’s conspiracy and defend New Dawn from looming threats.
Powerhouse Creative Team Revealed
The series is animated by studio CANDYBOX, with KADOKAWA’s overseas division, KADOKAWA QINGYU, managing overall production.
The creative helm is led by director Ken Takahashi, known for his work on Ragna Crimson and Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA. Series composition and screenplays are penned by Hotaru Asafuji of Azur Lane Slow Ahead! Season 2 fame, while Kōji Fujimoto of Sus4 Inc handles the music composition. Following the release of the key visual featuring Kelly, Hayato, and Moco, the official promotional trailer is set to premiere on August 1, 2026.
First announced in mid-2024, the anime represents a major milestone for Garena’s flagship title. Free Fire has long maintained a massive global presence, consistently ranking among the top-downloaded mobile shooters worldwide.
In the Philippines, Free Fire remains a core pillar of the local mobile gaming and esports landscape.
