BLACKPINK FANS DEMAND BIGGER 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION FROM YG ENTERTAINMENT

Fans of BLACKPINK are calling on YG Entertainment to organize more meaningful group activities to celebrate the K-pop supergroup’s upcoming 10th debut anniversary, emphasizing that the milestone deserves a rollout that reflects the quartet’s global stature.

Composed of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016, and marks a decade in the music industry this year.

In a joint social media statement, fan collective BLACKPINK Blink Union urged the agency to prioritize team-centered projects that honor the group’s journey.

“BLACKPINK is not just one of YG Entertainment’s artists… they are the biggest girl group in the world. Their legacy has been built through their identity as a team, and a 10th anniversary is a rare milestone that deserves to be celebrated in a meaningful way,” the group said.

The call for action stems from growing frustration among BLINKs over YG Entertainment’s initial anniversary plans, which have so far consisted of a commemorative message, a “Heritage Collection,” and a Weverse membership badge event.

Fans argue these efforts fall short and are requesting new music releases, special stages, and celebratory retrospective projects instead.

Supporters also pointed to the group’s comparatively modest discography, questioning why vault tracks remain unreleased during long stretches between team comebacks.

“It is especially difficult to understand why previously recorded or unreleased songs have not been coordinated for release when there have been long periods with little group content,” BLACKPINK Blink Union said.

The fandom organization maintained that the statement was made out of dedication to BLACKPINK rather than simple hostility toward the company.

“We sincerely ask that our voices not be overlooked. The fans have been an essential part of BLACKPINK’s success, and we hope this milestone becomes a celebration shared by both the artists and the fandom that has supported them unconditionally for the past decade,” it said.
