REGINE VELASQUEZ ANNOUNCES DEEP-DIVE DOCUMENTARY “SONGBIRD” AHEAD OF SOLD-OUT CONCERT

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is bringing her life and storied career to the big screen with “Songbird,” an intimate documentary film scheduled for a theatrical release next year.

The music icon officially revealed the project on August 3 via her social media channels. The film follows Regine’s preparations for her upcoming concert, “The Finale,” scheduled for October 17.

A recently released teaser provides an inside look at rehearsal sessions alongside her longtime musical director, Raul Mitra. The preview highlights the vulnerabilities of the legendary performer, capturing a candid moment before she sings her signature hit “Shine.”

”I’m actually scared of this,” the singer admits in the preview.

The documentary weaves rehearsal footage together with personal archival material, including childhood photos, memories of her late father Mang Gerry, highlights from iconic past performances, and quiet family moments with her husband Ogie Alcasid and their son Nate.

The announcement triggered an emotional response from fans online, many of whom admitted to being moved to tears by the short preview.

The project arrives amid massive demand for “The Finale,” which sold out its initial date and saw a second free performance on October 18 fully claimed within just nine minutes.
