A low pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) intensified into a tropical depression as of 8 a.m. Saturday, the state weather bureau reported.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the tropical depression was spotted 2,675 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.
The system packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph while tracking east-southeast at 15 kph. While the storm poses no immediate direct threat to the country, meteorologists continue to track its progression.
Concurrently, Typhoon Dolphin has exited PAGASA’s Tropical Cyclone Information Domain (TCID). However, weather forecasters cautioned that the typhoon continues to exhibit a “wobbling motion,” which could potentially cause it to drift back into the monitoring zone.
