Head coach Taka Minowa credited a complete collective effort after leading Alas Pilipinas to a historic silver medal finish in the second leg of the 2026 SEA V Cup, capped by a 25-13, 23-25, 25-19, 33-31 victory over Indonesia on Sunday, August 9.
The 34-year-old tactician emphasized that the team’s achievement reflects the broader dedication of mother clubs, grassroots initiatives, and coaching staff across the nation.
“I believe this moment is not only about the players who are with us in the national team pool,” Minowa wrote in a social media post. “It is the result of the hard work of so many players, coaches, and clubs who have continued to develop and make Philippine volleyball more competitive over the years.”
“I hope everyone can be proud of the players and coaches who gave their time, effort, and heart to this team,” he added. “This achievement is the result of everyone’s hard work, and I’m very grateful to be part of this journey with all of you.”
The silver medal performance marks a significant rebound for the Filipina spikers following an winless campaign in Leg 1. Alas Pilipinas recorded two victories in Leg 2, including a stunning 25-22, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 triumph over regional powerhouse Vietnam.
The Philippines also claimed individual awards, with Eya Laure earning Best Outside Spiker and Alyssa Solomon named Best Opposite Spiker.
“Para sa Bayan!!” Laure shared on social media alongside a photo holding her individual award and the runner-up trophy.
Looking ahead, the national team faces a steeper challenge at the upcoming 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Minowa will continue at the helm as the squad—featuring Laure, Solomon, Bella Belen, Angel Canino, Vanie Gandler, and Shai Nitura—prepares to take on defending champion China and Kazakhstan in Pool B.
