No Filipino casualties have been reported following the severe flash flooding along the border of Nepal and Tibet, according to an update from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
In a statement released on August 28, the DMW extended its condolences to those affected by the disaster while updating the public on the status of overseas Filipinos in the region.
“As of August 28, 2026, no Filipino casualties have been reported in connection with the catastrophic flooding,” the DMW stated.
The agency confirmed it is coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, local Philippine diplomats, and community leaders in Kathmandu to locate and verify the condition of any affected workers.
The DMW added that it “stands ready to provide all appropriate and necessary assistance to affected OFWs and their families” alongside partner government entities.
The announcement comes after local authorities in Nepal listed a missing Filipino national following the surge. On August 27, the Nepal Tourism Board published a list of individuals unaccounted for in Rasuwa district, which included Dr. Juan Carlos Manalo.
Dr. Manalo’s family has launched an urgent public appeal to assist in rescue efforts.
His sister, Chiara Manalo, posted a message on social media requesting anyone with relevant information about her brother’s whereabouts near the Nepal-Tibet border to contact them or local authorities immediately.
