The House prosecution team is evaluating the addition of official spokespersons to maintain clear public communication during the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, adapting to strict sub judice enforcement by the Senate tribunal.
Adviser to the prosecution panel and former Surigao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers stated during a Friday press conference that the team honors Rule 18 of the Senate court.
He emphasized the necessity of adjusting their media strategy to avoid public reliance on incomplete snippets, rumors, or unverified claims regarding the trial.
“Sana ang ating mga kababayan ay magkaroon ng oras na makinig at manood dito at subaybayan ang impeachment trial na ito,” Barbers said.
“Pinag-uusapan pa rin sa prosecution team kung ano yung mga hakbang na gagawin tungkol dito sa bagong ruling ng presiding officer at wala pa namang final,” he added.
Barbers noted that designating multiple dedicated representatives will make the intricate details of the prolonged legal proceedings more accessible to the general public.
“The more speakers, the more spokespersons, the better,” Barbers said. “Those appointed or designated as spokespersons, sila ang puwedeng magtuloy o magkumpleto ng mga dapat malaman ng ating mga mamamayan.”
