Severe destruction from the Southwest Monsoon has driven total public infrastructure losses to ₱6.16 billion and agricultural damages to ₱2.32 billion, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) disclosed on Monday.
OCD Disaster Preparedness Service Director Vicente Gregorio Tomas detailed the financial toll during a national television broadcast, emphasizing the extent of structural and crop losses.
“Total po ang nawala o nasira in terms of figures ay ₱6.16 billion in infrastructure. Sa damage to agriculture naman po ay ₱2.32 billion,” Tomas stated.
Widespread inundation impacted 724 sites across the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and Calabarzon. Central Luzon bore the brunt of the weather system, recording 561 flooded localities spanning Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.
Additional reports indicated 122 flooded spots in Pangasinan, 24 in Laguna, and 11 across Muntinlupa and Valenzuela.
Infrastructure degradation remains critical, with 110 road networks and 14 bridges rendered impassable due to landslides and structural failures. Emergency response operations are active, notably in Tarlac where a collapsed bridge left one person rescued and four individuals missing.
To support operations, 32 specialized teams consisting of 677 search-and-rescue personnel have been dispatched, while more than 20,000 responders from local government units and security forces remain on standby.
Relief provisions, including vital food and non-food packages, remain sufficient and continue to be distributed via the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-led response cluster.
