The Philippine National Police (PNP) reorganized its leadership ranks over the weekend, reassigning five senior officials in an order that took effect on Saturday, August 29.
Under the new directives, Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan transitioned from his position as head of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) to become the Acting Director of the PNP-Maritime Group.
Taking over the helm at the HPG is Brig. Gen. Joyce Patrick Sangalang, who previously served with the Civil Security Group.
The reshuffle also extended to the police force’s educational and training institutions.
Brig. Gen. Francisco Ebreo stepped down as deputy director of the PNP Academy to assume the role of acting director of the Training Service, while Brig. Gen. Roland Bulalacao was named to take over Ebreo’s former post at the Academy.
Additionally, Col. Renell Sabaldica, who served as assistant chief of the Public Information Office, was designated as Executive Officer under the Directorate for Comptrollership.
These reassignments follow a separate round of top-level command changes enacted on Friday. Brig. Gen. Christopher Olazo officially assumed leadership of the Quezon City Police District, replacing Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, who was tapped to head Police Regional Office-5 in Bicol.
Meanwhile, former Maritime Group head Brig. Gen. Crisaleo Tolentino was designated as Acting Regional Director for Police Regional Office-1 in the Ilocos Region.
