The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will bring wet weather across major portions of Luzon on Monday, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that periodic rainfall is expected over the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, remaining areas of Mimaropa, Abra, Benguet, and Antique will face scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Weather forecasters cautioned that moderate to heavy downpours in these affected regions may trigger flash floods and landslides.
Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms driven by the monsoon are slated to impact the Visayas and the rest of Luzon. In Mindanao, localized thunderstorms will bring scattered, short-lived rains.
PAGASA also advised mariners and residents in Northern Luzon to prepare for moderate to strong coastal winds paired with moderate to rough sea conditions. Light to moderate winds accompanied by slight to moderate seas are expected across the rest of the country.
