PLDT fended off a relentless Creamline squad in four sets, 25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, to claim the bronze medal in the PVL Invitational on Tuesday, September 8.
Savi Davison spearheaded the offense for the High Speed Hitters, putting up a stellar 29-point performance driven by 26 attacks and three service aces to wrap up their tournament run on a high note.
“Hindi man namin nakuha yung goal namin, at least kahit papano may nakuha kaming award,” said Jovielyn Prado, who chipped in 12 points, including 10 spikes.
Though falling short of a finals appearance and the chance to retain their championship title, PLDT earned a well-deserved podium finish as a consolation.
Majoy Baron provided solid support with 10 points, aiding PLDT’s defense in checking Creamline stars Jaja Santiago-Minowa and Jema Galanza. The High Speed Hitters also punished the opposition’s mistakes, translating unforced errors into 25 direct points.
Santiago-Minowa and Galanza joined forces for 27 spikes, finishing with 19 and 16 points respectively, but their output failed to spark a comeback for the Cool Smashers. Tots Carlos contributed 11 points while Ishie Lalongisip added 10 in the losing effort.
