The Southwest Monsoon, locally known as Habagat, continues to affect parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Friday, September 11, bringing intermittent and scattered rainfall, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA reported that occasional monsoon rains are expected over Bataan, Zambales, Benguet, La Union, and Pangasinan. Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the remainder of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Northern Samar will experience overcast skies accompanied by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms driven by the monsoon.
The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.
Additionally, weather forecasters are tracking two weather disturbances outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of 2:00 a.m. Friday, Low Pressure Area (LPA 09b) was assessed with a medium likelihood of intensifying into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. A second system, LPA 09c, is also under observation outside PAR but remains unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the same timeframe.
State meteorologists urge residents in affected areas to remain vigilant against potential weather hazards, including flash floods and landslides resulting from persistent rainfall and thunderstorms.
