Private-sector workers in Metro Manila are set to receive a ₱60 daily wage increase following the approval of a new wage order by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR).
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the adjustment is covered by Wage Order No. 28, which raises the minimum daily pay for non-agricultural workers from ₱695 to ₱755.
Agricultural workers will likewise receive the same ₱60 increase under the new wage order.
The order was published on Friday, September 11, and is expected to take effect on September 26 or 27. DOLE-NCR said the ₱60 adjustment has already been finalized and is now awaiting action from the National Wages and Productivity Commission.
The labor department said the wage hike is aimed at improving workers’ purchasing power while supporting more inclusive economic growth, in line with the administration’s economic objectives under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The new wage order followed the standard tripartite wage-setting process, which involved consultations among representatives of workers, employers, and the government.
The development came after the Pasig Regional Trial Court halted the implementation of Wage Order No. 27, which would have provided an ₱85 daily increase for minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region.
DOLE also reminded employers to observe the new wage rates once the order takes effect and said it will monitor compliance.
“DOLE reminded employers to comply with the new wage rates upon effectivity and assured workers that the Department will monitor implementation,” the agency said.
