Cebu Pacific will increase its cabin baggage allowance from 7 kilograms to 10 kilograms starting September 15, as the airline seeks to make boarding more efficient and help reduce flight delays.
The budget carrier announced the change in a customer advisory on Friday, noting that the revised allowance will apply to its mainline flights. Its regional subsidiary, Cebgo, will retain the existing 7-kilogram hand-carry limit.
Under the new policy, passengers may carry up to two cabin bags. One may be stored in the overhead compartment and must not exceed 56 by 36 by 23 centimeters, while the second personal item should fit under the seat and measure no more than 20 by 35 by 20 centimeters.
Passengers must also be capable of lifting and placing their cabin baggage in the overhead compartment without assistance.
Cebu Pacific said the higher allowance will give travelers greater flexibility while helping cabin crew manage limited overhead storage and keep pre-departure procedures on schedule.
Bags that exceed the permitted weight or dimensions will have to be checked in and will be subject to the applicable baggage fees.
To prevent delays and congestion at boarding gates, the airline encouraged passengers to purchase additional baggage allowance ahead of their flights and complete check-in online.
Cebu Pacific currently operates flights to 35 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
